Venue option C – Arrowtown: Friday 1st November 3.45 – 5.45pm
This hands-on workshop is for girls aged 11-14 years and is aimed at building confidence in using buses, and walking/biking alone. Every girl receives a free Bee card and parents/whanau receive additional information about how to support their young active traveller. Groups are limited to a maximum of 12 participants and snacks will be provided.
During this short course, participants will learn about:
- Using the Orbus network and communicating with bus drivers & other passengers
- Best practice in walking/biking safely (day and night)
- Making decisions under pressure and how to identify people who can help if something goes wrong
- Using technology to help keep them safe
Course Facilitators
Amanda Robinson is a registered teacher who has worked with teenagers for more than 20 years, and continues to work in Education. She’s also the General Manager of Queenstown-based active travel charity, The Lightfoot Initiative.
Sensei Pat Quaid is a registered secondary school teacher and owner of the Shukokai Karate dojo in Queenstown.
